Catalog
Description: Basic writing course for students who have difficulty organizing
and expressing their thoughts clearly, who have problems with usage, or who
simply lack much practice in writing. All students receive instruction in both
developing and expressing ideas. Work on specific problems of spelling,
punctuation and grammatical usage is drawn primarily from students’ own
writings. Additional work on related exercises may be required. By placement. To
be taken in the first semester. Graded on an S-W-U-R basis. Not applicable
toward any degree or certificate.

B. Axelrod; Essential Handbook for Writers
by Aaron.
Objectives 1. To write more and better. 2. To learn to organize and analyze. 3. To improve overall study and classroom skills.
Methods 1. In-class lectures (with note-taking). 2. In-class discussions (required). 3. In-class writing (with revisions).
Requirements 1. Completion of all reading and writing assignments. 2. Regular attendance (not more than two cuts). 3. Revision of all corrected materials. 4. Regular tutorial meetings (in and out of class) to
revise and perfect writing.
TO
SUCCESSFULLY GO ON TO THE NEXT CLASS—EG10:
1.
Persuasive writing, following persuasive form. 2.
Personal, turning point essay written as a highly descriptive narrative. 3.
In-class writing and end of term, proficiency screening. 4.
Rewriting and correction of all of your writing, both in and out of class. 5.
End of term letter stating why you feel you should pass the course.
EXTRA
CREDIT will also be given for journal writing and for other writing for other
classes which you may work on in EG 09.
Do your best! My posted hours for fall, 2006 are as follows:
Monday and Wednesday, from 1:00 to 2:00 and 3:15 to 3:45; Tuesday and Thursday, from 10:00 to 11:00 and 12:15
to 1:45; Additionally, I will be on line for an office hour each week regularly
during the following intervals: Monday and Wednesday between 9 and 10 p.m.. OFFICE, |
