PLEASE KEEP CHECKING THE NEWS PAGE FOR UP-DATES.

June 4: An email went out to the entire class on June 3. If you didn't get it, you'd better email me immediately so we can be sure class communications are getting through to you properly. You should be working away on your first, poetry paper. Be sure you read and pay close attention to the lessons and suggestions that go with the assignment. Send me your proposed thesis statement (following the prescribed form) to be sure you are heading in the right direction. People fool themselves--and write a plot comparison instead of a paper on the themes of two poems. You ought to check with me!

For videos, type in David B. Axelrod at You Tube.

As you read through your links, don't forget, I give extra credit if you tell me any typos you find. You'd need to make a note of exactly what link and what line has an error so I can correct things.

Feeling a bit confused about how to take your on-line class?  Don't be. If you have found this news link you are well on the way to success.

HAVE YOU EMAILED ME YET TO CHECK IN FOR THE COURSE? Please, do it right away: axelrodthepoet@yahoo.com

Please label your emails: RE: ENG 102

Up-dates will be posted as the course goes along.

I will be posting news on a sometimely basis through the semester. In truth, the course won't require much tweaking but you can check here every couple weeks to be sure you are up to date.

If you don't get comments and a grade back on a paper within a week of your sending it, contact me! If you don't get quizzes on the day/date listed on the deadlines page, contact me! If you don't get occasional email suggestions as "lessons" sent to you, check the news page to see if any notices went out. I will list any emails I send the class and you can see if you have been getting them.

Also note that there are at least two extra-credit options for this course. One would be to attend a literary event and review it (paragraph to a page) and the other is to proof read and help correct and perfect the website.

Deadlines & Readings

Note: sometimes old deadlines or references to old reading lists are hiding on the website from a previous term. The deadlines page is correct. Let me know if you find any old information that I forgot to delete!

A word on format for your three papers: I am telling you this now as students sometimes miss it and it creates a problem later! When you send me your papers (and quizzes), either attach the work as a Microsoft Word (.doc) document or paste it with proper margins into your email to me. I can't download WordPerfect (.wps) or other odd formats. Plan ahead if this will affect you. Work sent in the wrong format which has to be resent to me could be counted as late and late papers can lower your grade.
