QUIZ PAGE

Because a number of students clearly did not read all the materials assigned in previous semesters, I will be sending you two brief email "quizzes." Check the deadlines page again to see when the quizzes will be sent and when they are due. If you do not return your quizzes on time, a zero will be issued. There are no extensions or late quiz answers accepted!

Sigh...I should mention this comes from folks writing papers, for instance, on one of the most wonderful "anti-war" novels--and, having read only the opening chapters, the students proceeded to write about what a wonderful pro-war soldier and hero Ron was. Ouch!

Your first quiz will be on the three plays--Sophocles' Oedipus and Antigone and  Anouilh's Antigone--and Dostoyevsky chapters, "The Rebellion" and "The Grand Inquisitor."

You will be asked a question that will require you to think about some issue integral to understanding the whole work that would be answerable only if you actually read and thought about the whole work. The answer will be very short--only two or three sentences, maximum--but will "induce" you to read the work.

Your second quiz will be on the novel by Ron Kovic, Born on the Fourth of July.
