In order to advance the sciences associated with
biotechnology and molecular biology, the Biotechnology Learning Center has committed
itself to introducing cutting edge technologies to the students and professionals of Long
Island.
The Biotechnology Learning Center is the home of many
programs designed to introduce the concepts of Biotechnology in a many different mediums.
- LIGASE
The Long Island Group About Science and Education is a
consortial partnership using innovative academic year biology curricula, summer programs
for teachers and students, and input from the biotechnology industry to educate students
in current techniques in the growing field of biotechnology.

- BioPREP
A six week residential summer program for
underrepresented minority students at two-year institutions who want to transfer to
four-year schools and prepare for careers in the biological sciences.

- Biotech Explorer
This is a one day activity designed for 4 different
Saturdays during the academic year, inviting 4 different high schools, one per weekend, to
the BLC where High School students will become exposed to a real laboratory and learn the
basic techniques used at the BLC.
- Summer Program
This four week summer laboratory experience is designed
for high school students interested in learning the techniques for manipulating and
analyzing DNA.
- BIOS Club
One of the many clubs in SCCC, BIOS actively participates
in many events around campus.
