Casting Paper

• Mix paper with water in blender to form pulp. Any "soft" paper is good including newsprint, newspaper, construction paper, handmade papers. You can experiment with other additions as well. For example, dryer lint (without pet hair) adds some fabric fiber. Add as much water as the blender needs to work smoothly. Any water based pigment such as tempra paints, food coloring, acrylic paint, etc. will color the mixture.

• Pour pulp into strainer (or add in handfuls) Remove some water but do not over squeeze.

• Pat wet, squishy pulp into plaster mold. It is not necessary to fill to the top, just get a thick, even coat over whole interior. You can make different colored batches of pulp and place them selectively if desired.

• Remove excess water by sponging off top.

• Allow to dry (this can take days, a fan helps speed the process)

• Gently remove casting.

• Leave raw or decorate as desired.
