COLLEGE COURSE SYLLABUS FOR IT 60:

ITALIAN CONVERSATION AND COMPOSITION

 

 

I.               Course Title: Italian Conversation and Composition

 

 

II.             Catalog Description:

 

Advanced-level course focusing on development of oral and written skills within a wide range of contexts and situations. Review specific grammatical structures, broadens general vocabulary and enhances correct pronunciation techniques to strengthen accuracy and precision in oral written Italian.

 

III. Goals:

At the end of IT 60 the student will be able to:

 

• further develop oral and written language skills in the target language
• enhance vocabulary in the target language
• improve pronunciation and diction in the target language
• expand situational/linguistic experiences in the target language
• discuss and explore themes of popular interest in the target language

 

 

IV. Outcome Behaviors:

      To successfully complete this course the students will be able to:

 

• express thoughts and opinions on a variety of themes, including but not limited to personal , social, political and culture topics

• approximate the phonology of a native speaker of Italian
• understand and use different registers of formal and informal spoken and written Italian
• write pieces in Italian, including but not limited to summaries, reports, letters and essays on assorted topics with few grammatical or lexical errors
• demonstrate confidence in the target language
• derive information from texts

 

 

V. Programs that Require this Course:*

 

Italian/FL is required in all Liberal Arts curricula except 103, General

Studies, where it may be used to fulfill the Humanities requirement. IT 60

can be used towards the FL requirement of the International Studies

Emphasis.
